Lesley Elwood

Lesley Elwood is the principal of Elwood & Associates (E&A) a Los Angeles firm formed in 1993 to assist governmental agencies in cultural planning to satisfy their public art requirement. E&A project management services include public art oversight for transit projects, development of annual plans, specialized temporary and permanent exhibitions, artists’ contracts, collection maintenance surveys, and creatively working with community stakeholders to bring public art and artists into the built environment to improve the urban landscape. Transit related experience includes the Metro Gold Line Los Angeles to Pasadena light rail system, the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension design development project, Long Beach Transit and the Omnitrans sbx BRT system. Recent experience with non-profit art institutions includes her work with a private developer, Lyon Communities and Redevelopment Agency of Long Beach. Her task was to establish a program for a non-profit partnership to oversee an exhibition space at a mixed-use project in Downtown Long Beach. Ms Elwood was the consultant to negotiate the various agreements on behalf of the private developer related to the space and the partnership of the Arts Council of Long Beach and the Museum of Latin American Art. Prior to forming E & A, Ms. Elwood worked for the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department in administering the newly adopted percent-for-art ordinance.
