Professional Development

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Florida Association of Public Art Professionals is an excellent network for administrators, practicing artists, artists looking to make the jump to Public Art, as well as for individuals in related industries (architecture, landscape architecture, planners).   The following are some professional development opportunities for members of the organization:

Annual Conference

This 3-day conference is hosted in a different city each year in the state of Florida, and offers quality workshops, tours, and presentations, as well as the opportunity to reconnect and network with conference attendees.  The conference always presents opportunities for refreshing interaction and substantial discussions on what the current trends are in the field.  Past conference sessions include topics on: issues in art law, social media and how best to promote your program or artwork, breakout activities analyzing various case studies, Public Art conservation, memorials and history-based Public Art. Additionally the conference always has tours of Public Art, as well as an annual review of Public Art that has been installed within the past year.  New to 2017 will be a free pre-conference workshop for new Public Art Administrators and will occur concurrently with the existing pre-conference workshop for Public Artists.

Regional Artists Development

The Regional Artists Development series is geared towards artists and art professionals who are interested in exploring the leap into the Public Art realm. This 1-day workshop serves as a guide and overview of the nuts and bolts of the field of Public Art and is a great opportunity for FAPAP member organizations to offer to their local artists.

New Public Art Administrators Workshop

This workshop will be launched as a free pre-conference at the 2017 conference in Orlando, but the organization has plans for expanding this to members and offer this workshop via a go-to-meeting or webinar.  Additionally, a new administrators toolkit is being planned for new members.
