in State Buildings Program Lee Modica,
Administrator Established
in 1979, Florida's statewide
percent-for-art program acquires artwork for new public facilities built
with state funds. It requires that up to .5% of the construction
appropriation be set aside to acquire artwork for permanent display in
the public areas in, on or around that facility. This includes
construction at the state universities and colleges. Since the program's
beginnings in 1979, over 1,000 works of art have been purchased or
commissioned and placed in public spaces. Projects
are periodically advertised to artists on their web site at www.Florida-Arts.org/programs/statebuildings
