Each year, FAPAP produces a state-wide conference offering thorough discussions on current trends, best practices and issues of Public Art, networking opportunities for both artists and administrators, and highlights of recent installations throughout Florida in the Year in Review. FAPAP members receive a discount to the conference.
FAPAP Members have the opportunity to submit all your Public Art projects from the past year to the Florida Public Art Year in Review.
As a FAPAP member, you will also receive a monthly newsletter highlighting projects and programs throughout the state of Florida. Also, as a member, you have the opportunity to submit a blurb to the news brief highlighting your most recent Public Art installation.
FAPAP provides assistance to members with producing a workshop for their regional artists – the Regional Artists Development (RAD) series is a workshop geared towards artists and art professionals who are interested in exploring the leap into the Public Art realm. This 1-day workshop serves as a guide and overview of the nuts and bolts of the field of Public Art, including but not limited to: introduction to the field, the life cycle of a typical public art project, how to read and respond to a call to artists, learning about budgets, contracts and planning. Additional areas of focus could include percent-for-art ordinances, public/private partnerships, community engagement and the role of site specific Public Art. FAPAP will work with the host to best tailor the workshop to their needs.
FAPAP members also have the opportunity to sign up for the Google Group Listserv. The purpose of this service is to connect our members, encourage discussions about Public Art, and strengthen the Florida Public Art network. This listserv is a place to float questions among peers, as well as to share calls to artists, relevant articles, program news, etc.
